Introduction:
A simple and efficient design for a wall climbing robot using pneumatics and vacuum technology. It can be used to clean glass panes of tall skyscrapers, thus eliminating the dangers faced by workers while performing the task. An improvised vacuum circuit design for the robot was introduced to make the robot adhere to the wall, in case of power failure. Hardware: Pneumatic double acting cylinder, suction cups, vacuum generator, 5/2 direction control solenoid valve, 2/2 direction control solenoid valve, check valve, non-return valve, compressor, MOSFET circuits, Arduino Uno. Achievement: The simple and efficient design of the robot won FESTOs international Productivity Contest for the innovation, followed by a fully funded trip to Hannover Messe, Germany. See the news.
